This weeks theme at Homeschool Memoirs is Homeschool Agenda. A look into what our plan is in the upcoming homeschool year. Also a Bible verse that helps you on this journey.
We are using a wide range of things this year. I am still trying to figure out what my child will do well in.
We are using a wide range of things this year. I am still trying to figure out what my child will do well in.
- Horizon's Math 2 with lots and lots of manipulatives and our dry erase board.
- 50 States under God. I love this mixed with Sticker Atlas of the 50 States that we got from Sam's club.
- Sonlight Language Arts with readers.
- We are doing some nature study right now so we have not picked out anything for science. I think we will do the skeletal system during the winter. On a second grade level of course.
- C is not doing well with worksheets and trying to get her interested in textbooks scares me. I was planning on doing Mystery of History, but now I am not sure. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!
- C is in GA's and has Bible verses to memorize for that so we incorporate that into our day.
- C is really struggling with reading, so we are picking out extra books to read during the week. Our spelling words come from the words that she misses while reading the book. We then play games and learn to recognize the words/ read the word, and spell the word.
- J is ready for school. He will be 4 soon. So we are learning phonics. Mostly he plays with toys, gets on the computer, and loves a good movie. He also spends 2 mornings a week at a friends house.
We have had a Bible verse that we have relied on heavily through the years. I am teaching the kids this verse as well.
"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13

Hi Amanda. Looks like you have a well-planned year ahead. I enjoyed reading your post (wish I had some advice for you!)
We're also a military family :) My ds sounds very much like your dd in regards to being a reluctant reader. :P I'm FINALLY starting to see some desire to read independently! Mostly Lego Bionicle books, but still LOL. I wish I had some advice to offer. I pray you all have a great year. We'll keep you & your dh in our prayers.
You seem to have a lot planned out! That's wonderful. I can only hope to achieve what you have! Have a wonderful year. :)
that sounds like an awesome plan! We are using Heart of Dakota this year. Have you been to the Simply Charlotte Mason website? She has A LOT of info and schedules (with books) for every subject. I hope that helps a little. I pray you have a blessed year!
