Write Shop - World of People and Christmas

The Writeshop Program was one that we got to review just before Christmas. It could not have come at a better times. We received the World of People and Christmas program as a download. I immediately printed, cut out the cards to divide, and begin our story building.

We were able to put the Christmas program to use right away on our long 6 hour drive to visit family during the Christmas holidays. I printed the pages onto a heavier card stock and cut dividing them into the appropriate groups. The groups were character, character trait, setting, and plot. Working with C, we pulled one card out of each group and allowed her to invent a story around those cards. She had a blast inventing personalities and situations. It really showed her silly side, but also showed me that she was completely capable of inventing a story, something that she would not have done if I had asked her to write it down.
Older kids can easily write out more intricate stories to the any of the story builders out there. This easy and fun way to get the creative juices flowing and is a great addition to homeschool time that can happen anywhere.
We have not used to the World of People story builder since our initial use, but we have a very long drive in our very near future. I hope that it will still be new enough and fun enough to enjoy on that trip.
