A simple prayer

The other night I laid awake in bed worrying over this move to California and what all it involves. I prayed to God for all the good things in my life and the stress that I felt I was enduring. One thought that popped into my head was "God please give me the faith to do this." I stopped myself and actually sat up in bed.

Did I actually just ask God to give me Faith? What was I thinking? Faith is one of those things that I am supposed to have. I pick it up each morning as I start my day and carry it around with me to witness all the good and bad parts of myself and my day. So why was I asking for Faith?

You can imagine that I sat up for a while communing with God to get this all figured out. Because I was quite sure that God was trying to tell me something, not because I am a wonderfully gifted woman when it comes to Christianity. I struggle just like everyone else, maybe more than some and less than others.

What I came to see was that God allowed me to question my faith because I had not taken everything to him in prayer. Uh -duh! Did you see that coming? I should have. I worry to much stressing over the details and making to many lists. Now I think that lists are good, but they should not control us.

What I should have done was take the worries of our move and lay them at God's feet. Allow Him to handle the problems of a cross country move. So now that I have done what any child of God should have done, I am open for the direction that God is sending us in. Yes, that does mean that I get to make lists. Writing down the plans that are coming to me is getting our whole family excited and having doable lists helps my husband and I communicate.

How exciting that when I falter God allows mean to continue to turn to Him for help, He continues to love me, and He continues to guide me. I am so glad to have God that loves the details.

Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me! Psalms 66:20
Have a great week.

Happenings, prayer request and homeschool

It has been nearly a week since I have posted anything. We are just getting busy. Gymnastics has started and both kids go at the same time. We like it so far. There is lots of playground activity right now. The weather is just great to send the kids out. C will stay out there until I make her come in at dark. I can see all the she does from my kitchen and back porch, but I have her trained to stay there or at her friends house next to the park. I can see her there to and the other parents watch out to. It is a good set up for us right now.

Prayer request. A girl in my Sunday School class had her baby 2 months early. She is home and the baby is doing OK in the ICU. This is a very touchy situation, because the father of the children is very abusive. He is out of the picture right now, but tends to come and go as he pleases. Hurting everyone along the way. Please give this girl your prayers that she will be strong for her baby and strong enough to turn this man out of their lives.

I got picked by The Old Schoolhouse to be part of their focus group to review homeschool materials. I am excited. There are about 100 people in this group. This should be fun, no pressure because I am not getting paid for my reviews.

Have a great week.

Gustav

We are evacuating in preparation for Gustav. I am not sure where the storm will land, but I think that we need to head for higher ground. Please pray for safe travels and my husband. He is in a bit of a panic because he is not here to help his family.

We are taking plenty to do at Grammie's, schoolwork to keep up with, and there is mini putt putt for my boy.

Take Care. Amanda

My Girl

I have not posted in a while because things have been crazy. My girl, C, is sick. She throws up everything that she eats. She will feel puny for a little while before and after she throws up but it fine other than that. I have no ideas what it going on. This has been going on since Friday night. Yesterday I thought we had it whipped, i cut out dairy and she was fine all day and ate better that she had in 3 days. About 3:00 this morning, it started over again. She has missed 2 days of school, which has not bothered me at all. I am most worried about what could be wrong. I have done a mountain of laundry.

J loves having his sister at home. Not that they play better or he wants to watch TV less, he just likes having her around.

Have a great day and say a prayer for C and for this family who lost their little boy this week. My husband knows this family because they are from the same town. So sad!

Sweet & Simple

Would it not be fabulous if everything would be sweet and simple? Things like a nasty colds, paycheck problems, and school issues would not exist. Then would we rely on God like he wants us to? Would we fall at his feet when things continue to get worse? Would life be easier just because we kept up with our prayer life? I have no clue! Things have gone from hard to knock me out tough around here. I have yet to figure out a good time to have a quiet time, take a walk, or how to get homework done on under an hour. And why am I spending two hours a night on homework for a first grader? I am reconsider letting her finish the first grade and then homeschool next year, but I am waiting for now.

I am working on my attitude around here. Things have been stressful financially since we moved here. The stress has caused some bite-your-head off responses from Dad and me. So I found this post and printed it out. I am working on my attitude and like the things that I see. Except for a few moments this weekend.

The punches keep coming. So I am laying it all at the feet of my Lord. I pray that we can find some peace in this new town. We are gearing up for a deployment and that always makes the stress level rise and I need the problems that we are facing to be gone by the time the deployment gets here. So I ask that if you are the praying type to please say a prayer for us. We need some peace with each other, with finances, with neighbors.

Have a great day. Amanda
